INVITES YOU TO VISIT US AT NEXPO 2000
May
19, 2000 - Vienna, VA - One by one, newspapers across the country
are examining their operations, whether they are purchasing new
equipment, switching from PM to AM, combining print sites or determining
new ways of producing their product, these companies all have a
common goal - Achieving Better Quality, Defining Efficient and Effective
Processes, and Reducing Costs.
Over the last year, CBAssociates has worked with many newspapers
addressing these very issues. We invite you to visit our booth 4016
at NEXPO 2000 so we can chat about industry trends and the methods
CBAssociates uses to address the requirements facing newspapers
today. Services such as product planning, equipment determination,
master planning and facility design, as well as operations analysis
will be illustrated.
We are seeing more and more newspapers faced with an increased number
of inserts which, ultimately leads to additional equipment and storage
capacity needs for preprints. The Spokesman-Review in Spokane, WA
has also been experiencing these same issues. CBAssociates is working
with the Spokesman-Review in developing a strategic product and
operational plan that evaluates all product areas, such as circulation,
pages, color, and inserts. Based on the study, various master planning
options were explored including expanding the existing facility
and designing a facility on a greenfield site. Currently, the group
is waiting for board approval to proceed with design development.
Another trend CBAssociates is seeing throughout the industry is
the desire to consolidate printing facilities. Newspaper groups
have found cost efficiencies in producing multiple publications
from a single print site. Having one location as opposed to multiple
facilities offers these groups the opportunity to purchase equipment
with attributes such as better press capacities, increased color
quality and capabilities, as well as high speed inserting machines.
Newspaper groups that CBAssociates have recently assisted in thinking
this process through include Dix Communications based in Ohio, Pioneer
Newspapers located in the pacific northwest and intermountain west
and Swift Newspapers / Colorado Mountain News Media.
CBAssociates is exhibiting at Booth 4016. We look forward to the
chance to share our knowledge in production and distribution operations,
process and equipment analysis, master planning and design development
as well as the latest systems control, re-engineering techniques
and new technology.
